Your Health with a Real Perspective
“If peace, the ideal, is to be our common destiny, then peace, the experience, must be our common practice.”
—Henry Kissinger, U.S. Secretary of State (1973–1977)
Lately, I’ve been reflecting on this quote—not just in terms of world affairs, but in terms of health.
Too often, we treat health like it’s a finish line. Something we’re chasing. Something we’re either winning at or failing to reach. But what if health was never meant to be that way?
What if, like peace, health isn’t a one-time achievement… but a process we live, day by day?
Health Is Not A Destination
When we think of health as a destination, we miss the point. It isn’t about finally “arriving.” It’s about building rhythms that bring us stability and joy:
Simple routines.
Nourishing food.
Movement that feels good.
Rest that restores.
These small acts may seem ordinary, but they are the quiet anchors that create freedom—freedom to feel good, to show up fully, to enjoy our lives.
The truth is, the never-ending task of caring for our bodies can feel like a burden. But reframed, it becomes a beautiful practice. A daily negotiation. A quiet act of self-respect. Health, like peace, comes step by step—not all at once. And that process? That’s where the joy lives.
(If you want to dive deeper into how powerful those small, steady steps can be, check out my post on Consistency, Not Perfection.)
Here’s another perspective: health isn’t just about routines. It’s about a relationship.
Take the time… and build a relationship with your body.
Think about it—relationships thrive with consistent effort, care, and TIME. Health is no different. In fact, you’ve heard me say it before, LOVE is spelled T-I-M-E.
You can’t expect a profound transformation overnight. Just like raising children with different needs under one roof, your body and spirit each require unique care—but both deserve love.
Learn how your body reacts to food, movement, and rest.
Pay attention to what gives your spirit peace and energy.
Nourish both, separately and together.
When you treat your health as a relationship instead of a checklist, your habits stop feeling like chores. The “chore” of eating vegetables becomes the love of fueling your body with the plants God placed on the earth for healing. The “chore” of exercise becomes the love of moving and feeling alive in your own skin.
Maybe you’ve tried diets or strategies that worked wonders for someone else, but left you frustrated. That doesn’t mean you failed—it means you’re unique. Lasting change doesn’t come from copy-and-paste routines. It comes from TIME—time to listen, adapt, and understand your own body.
Take the time to:
• Understand the power of your digestion.
• Notice how food truly fuels or depletes you.
• Move in ways that strengthen and energize you.
It takes time, but that is how we learn to love.
The Real Perspective
Health is not about perfection. It’s not about “arriving.” It’s about perspective.
When we stop chasing and start practicing, health becomes more than habits—it becomes who we are.
Not a finish line.
Not a burden.
But a relationship. A rhythm. A source of joy.
Health, like peace, is not a destination.
It’s a process.
And that process—the daily act of love and time—is where freedom and joy are found.
